How an engagement starts
30-minute call
You describe the situation, I ask questions. By the end we both know whether it fits — professionally and personally. Non-binding, confidential, by video or phone.Scoping and situation report
For an interim mandate: one or two conversations with the relevant people, a review of the key documents, a short written situation report with goals, roles and timeframe. For coaching: clarifying the occasion, the goal and the format — for company-funded coaching together with the sponsor.Proposal
Interim: day rate, expected volume, duration, notice period. Coaching: a package with the number and length of sessions. One page, no surprises.Start — and close
An interim mandate starts within days, not weeks. From the first week I work towards handover: documented, with a named successor, without dependence on my person. A coaching engagement ends with a joint review — and the question of what you will carry on without me.Terms

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does an interim manager cost per day?
That depends on four factors: the level of responsibility (managing director, division head, programme lead), the industry and how heavily it is regulated, the duration of the mandate, and the risk the interim manager personally carries. Market surveys by the interim associations report a broad range for C-level mandates in the DACH region — there is no single "usual day rate". I quote my day rate after scoping, together with an estimate of the total cost. More in the article on day rates.
How quickly can an interim manager start?
Usually within a few days of the engagement being confirmed — that is one of the main reasons to bring in an interim manager at all. Prerequisites: scoping is complete and the role inside the company is clear (reporting lines, authorities, access to systems and people). If I am fully committed to a mandate at the time, I will tell you so in the first conversation.
What does executive coaching cost?
The fee depends on the format: session length (50 or 90 minutes), package size (five or ten sessions), individual or team setting, on site or online. After the initial conversation you receive a proposal with the total price for the package. For company-funded coaching the proposal goes to the company; the content remains confidential.
How long does an interim mandate last?
Typically three to twelve months. Bridging a vacancy ends when the successor is in place; a turnaround when the key figures are stable and the team runs without me; a programme when it has been delivered. I agree a goal and an end date from the outset — and work towards both. Extensions are possible but should be justified.
Do you also work in Germany and Switzerland?
Yes. I work in Austria, Germany and Switzerland — on site and remotely. After eight years of international group responsibility, multiple locations are routine for me. Country-specific requirements, such as the employment-status assessment in Germany, are clarified before the contract is signed.
